What Is A power Token and How does it work

Power is credited to the meter by a single-use token, available for purchase across the Territory. The token is a magnetic strip card that comes in denominations of $5, $10, $20, and $50. The card is fed into a slot on the front of the meter and the value of the card is credited to the meter. The meter can hold credit of up to $999.

Who uses These Meters

Meters are available for people with a single phase electricity service. You must have access to the meter box to insert the token into the meter. Written permission is required from your landlord if you are renting.

Pre Paid Power Cards Denominations

There are two types of pre-payment meters and tokens, narrow and wide mouth, as illustrated on our electricity pre-payment meters fact sheet overleaf.

  1. $5 dollar small power card
  2. $10 Dollars small power card
  3. $20 dollar small power card
  4. $5 Large power card
  5. $10 large power card
  6. $20 dollar Large power card

Used power Cards

You probably want to know about used power cards, while they are pretty worthless you may want to know what they look like after they have been used here we have a small power card front and back. You will notice not much on the front but on the back you can see how the card comes up after it has been used. The picture displays a small $20 power card. the large card marks differently. We will show a sample when we have a chance.
